I thought I'd start a thread that discusses other soaps. You know, to take our minds, temporarily, at least, off Patrick and Billie. So, do any of you watch other soaps? I, myself, watch PASSIONS, GH, Y&R, OLTL, AMC, and ATWT.

B&B, ATWT, Y&R and GL are the others I watch on semi-regular basis.

That's the whole CBS lineup! Is there anything going on that's interesting to you right now? Personally, I like this new Victoria on Y&R. She's the former Mia from AMC. True, she's no Heather Tom (who's now OLTL's Kelly), but she's still pretty good. I like the new Mackenzie, as well. Rachel Kimsey does a pretty swell job.

Well I haven't got to see them yet. Basically whenever I watch them is when I have a weekday off from work. My mom informs of things that are going on because that is what she watches.
I can't wait to find out who really murdered Phillip. I think it is Lizzie on GL.
Ridge, Brooke, Bridget and Nick are my favorites on B&B.
Also since I don't get to watch them normally I always read about them in my SOD. So that way I keep updated.
I like Jennifer, Mike, Henry and Katie on ATWT. The murder of Julia is interesting too. Looks like Keith and Lily are going to hookup. But I always liked Lily and Holden.
I basically like almost everything on Y&R.

Well, Y&R is the best soap on the air. Its storylines are the only ones that are character-driven, not plot-driven.

I agree. Days needs to try that. It will work.
I was thinking about something earlier today. I forgot to tell you there used to be a soap called Search For Tomorrow. I watched that one too. That is where I fell in love with Matthew Ashford. He was as adorable then as he is now.

Whoa, wait! He was on that one? I know he's on DAYS (Jack), and that he was on GH (ex-Tom Hardy) and OLTL (ex-Stephen Haver), but on SFT, too? Who did he play?

Cagney McCleary. He was on from 1984-1986. He was my favorite on that show.

Yeah I figured so. You have to remember Dale I'm old. I remember Peter when he was on ATWT. That was a long time ago too.

I grew up watching the ABC soaps and then took a long break away from soaps until my freshman year of college. My roommate was addicted to Days and her favorite was actually Lisa Rinna as Billie. She would schedule her classes around watching the show and I thought it silly. Then one day when I was home in between classes, I sat down watched it and totally got hooked on John/Marlena there. After that it was downhill for me lol. I became a Days fan and I watched Port Charles (when it was on) on the first night it was on. Immediately I became a HUGE Chris and Eve (Julie played Eve BTW) fan on that show and I watched that until they killed Eve off. After that I had no interest in the show. I taped in the hopes that Eve would return, but never watched anything because it just never was the same without Julie's presence on it. I loved the thought of a Chris/Eve pairing (hence the nolanjuliefan name since I was a fan of both Julie and Nolan North--the man who played her best friend and the man with unrequited love for her). Anyways to make my super long story shorter I wasn't surprise that PC ended shortly after the show lost Julie. She was the heart and soul of that show and it never recovered from the loss IMO. I watched Passions for a little while (mostly around the time that I started my websoap since I wanted to see Chris Douglas in action and I was HIGHLY disappointed in how they wrote Antonio there BTW and because a friend of mine was working there and I wanted to show some support for the show). Ultimately I stopped watching that show and I watched Y&R briefly while Julie was on it, but now it's only Days again. So that's my soap watching history there

How did Eve die?

They had this ridiculously stupid storyline where they had something called 'The Fifth Chair' and they had like 4 angels in town at the time (since PC was turning supernatural at the time which was also a big mistake there). The whole premise of the storyline arc, since PC had turned to a 3 month arc format that promised a whole story would be told within 3 months there and end within 3 months. During that arc, the big premise was that someone very close to one of these mystery women in town would die. One angel in particular came to town plotting revenge against Eve's husband Ian (whom I won't share my opinion of with everyone--no I will. I HATED his character beyond belief). Eve and Ian were going through their share of problems at the time because he'd had an affair with her long time rival and worst enemy Lucy Coe shortly after their son was born and after that their marriage never really fully recovered. When this new gal Amy came into town, she clung to Ian and seemed ready to seduce him, but in her mind she was going to find a way to get payback against him b/c she felt Ian killed her (Amy's) father. To make a LONG STORY short, Ian and Amy were really, really close and onscreen together a lot of the time. At the end of the arc we saw all the characters who were close to the angels in near death situations. Amy, who had evil intentions, reformed her ways fell in love with Ian and decided she would do no wrong to him. Shortly before her time on earth was over she asked him to stay with her until she left. He agreed and while Eve was out getting tickets for a honeymoon that she and Ian never took with one another in an attempt to salvage their marriage (that IMO never should've been), they had Eve die in a car accident off screen. The show ended with the reveal of Eve walking into heaven to take that place in the 5th chair not knowing what was going on. Oh boy...that show made me sooooooooooooooooooo mad because it was the kiss of death for PC. Eve had absolutely nothing to do with the angel storyline and then on a whim they decided to kill Eve off and fire Julie in the name of putting Ian/Lucy together down the road. Sure, they'll say it was for other things, but I'm sure that was the motivation behind it and PC's cancellation clearly showed fans were unhappy with that among other things. Unfortunately in PC they had so much untapped, amazing chemistry between the Chris/Eve characters, but never the backbone to follow through on it. Even Julie and Nolan have both said time and time again they never understood why TPTB didn't put Chris/Eve together. Julie mentioned in her last chat online that she felt Chris/Eve could've been PC's supercouple there. Unfortunately the show missed an opportunity to let that happen and at least I now have Pillie to give me something there. Sigh... I hope I answered your question there in my rant

I just wanted to know how she died! I don't care about the storyline!

In that case--car accident.
Sorry it's the writer in me that offers up details. As passionate as you are about Patrick/Billie that's how passionate (if not more) I was about Eve on PC there. That being said Dale, if you don't care, that's great, but try not to be such a stick in the mud there about things. Instead of sounding so rude, you could've just said, "Okay thanks. I appreciate the information." and left it at that instead of trying to make me feel about as relevant as a piece of gum on the bottom of your shoe there. I'm glad you don't care, but I did and I'd appreciate if you take that into consideration before making off the cuff remarks like that. Now I realize that in writing things come off in ways that they don't in real life, but just remember b/c we're all typing instead of talking, that it's easy to hurt someone's feelings if you word something the wrong way. Please just take that into consideration there every now and then.
And hey, you never know who cared to hear the details of the storyline there even if you didn't.
